2008年4月28日，北京第一面奥运文化墙亮相北京理工大学西校墙，这是市民用五颜六色的颜料和喷漆材料，在长约600米、高2米多的墙上，勾画出70多幅个性鲜明、充满奥运元素的涂鸦作品。
　　涂鸦作为街头文化的主流艺术形式，是各国和众多城市装饰文化墙的主要手段，通过涂鸦形式宣传奥运，充分体现北京奥运国际化的概念，突出北京对外开放的现代化城市色彩。作为北京市民参与奥运环境建设的重要标志，北京将在七城区繁华地段和高校周边设立10面奥运文化墙。
